The tribute that transcends borders
The portrait
Originating from the town of the same name, Kölsch is a fine beer on the palate, fresh, clear, and unfiltered. With its base of Heidelberg and CaraPils, it has a light malty character, supplanted by a generous hopping of Mandarina Bavaria and Motueka, giving it aromas of pineapple, orange, and apricot. Zum Wohl!
This homage to the particular traditional style that is Kölsch is for us a way to offer a beer that quenches thirst, has character and is meant to be shared.
Food and beer pairings
O2 Cologne excels as an aperitif beer and accompaniment to delicate dishes. Its freshness and finesse make it an ideal partner for fine charcuterie, grilled sausages, and soft cheese platters like Camembert or Brie.
Fish dishes , especially light dishes like tartare or ceviche, find O2 Cologne a perfect ally. Its citrus notes echo those of the lemons and oranges often present in these dishes, creating a natural harmony.
For a more adventurous pairing, try fruity desserts like apricot tarts, tropical fruit salads, or citrus sorbets. The beer's pineapple and orange aromas complement these sweet creations beautifully, providing a freshness that cleanses the palate.
It also proves excellent with hearty sandwiches and quiches , where its delicate carbonation balances the richness of the eggs and cheese.
The final word
O2 Cologne has left its mark on our range by demonstrating that homage can become creation. Although it is no longer brewed regularly today, it remains an important milestone in our journey, proving that we know how to navigate the balance between respect for tradition and expression of our personality.
This beer taught us that innovation doesn't always mean revolution, but sometimes simply offering your own take on a classic. Its legacy lives on in our approach to traditional styles: understanding them, respecting them, and then subtly reinventing them.
Cheers! 🍻
